The Szechuan classics hit the mark.
One of my favorite activities is going out for dinner with a group of friends, and this type of excursion is maximized when going to Chinese restaurants. I was giddy all day looking forward to dinner at Tasty Szechuan and it did not disappoint. The restaurant is small and casual, but every single dish was satisfying and came out of the kitchen freshly made. The flavors and textures were all on point for the toothpick lamb, the cold beef with chili oil, boiled fish fillets, twice cooked pork, garlic eggplant, fried potato matchsticks, and Szechuan sausage. To balance out some of the spice, we got the Honey Walnut prawns and even this Californian-Chinese classic was delicious. Great flavor and super crispy, it may honestly be the best version I've had.
Great for a dinner with friends and probably a top option for some take-out.

Wow, yummy!!!!!
Beef fried rice 10/10
Fried spicy pork intestine 10/10
Boiling spicy fish dish 10/10
Toothpick Lamb 10/10
Want to come back and try the rest of the menu soon!!

Hayward offered a program 2 months ago where customers can buy a gift card worth $50, $75 or $100 and get another one that's worth the same amount for free to help local businesses in Hayward. Among the 90 businesses, Tasty Szechuan, was on there. The food pics and Yelp reviews were enticing, so we decided to stop by during lunch to give this place a try.
Upon walking in, I noticed the cleanliness of the restaurant. It's not that big, but it fits a good amount of people. We decided to order their most popular dishes: Boiling Hot Fish Filets, Chili Fried Chicken and Braised Beef Tender Noodle Soup with thick noodles. Can I say that all the dishes were super tasty?!! The fish was super tender and they added veggies and tofu in it, so you're getting a really big portion. The fried chicken is pretty much fried chicken with chili, which was my fav out of the three. I always order the thick noodles with any soup dishes and the soup plus noodles definitely hit the spot. My fiancé doesn't eat lamb, so we didn't get their Toothpick Lamb with Cumin Special, but I will definitely order it next time I'm here.
Also, the staff here are super nice and friendly. We couldn't finish everything so they packed everything up for us and even gave us extra rice! If you're ever in the area, and craving some authentic Szechuan food, this is the place to go! They don't have a parking lot, but there is street parking available or you can park at Lucky's parking lot (across the street).

I Had an excellent meal of my favorite schezwan cabbage, ma po tofu and dumplings. I stopped by for lunch one afternoon and was enjoying the sun in a spacious both.  They give you rotated peanuts as an appetizer which were so tasty I took the extra to go.  The server was super friendly and suggested I try the lamb next time. Looking forward to bringing some coworkers next time so I can try more dishes

The place is cute. Best luck parking at Lucky's parking lot and crossing the street to get there if there's no parking up front. Service is nice and friendly and theyre always checking on you and making sure you're comfy.
Food is extra bussin and delicious it felt like it took me back to the good ole days. Spicy wonton soup and mongolian beef and my beef soup mmmm. Would come back here again.

First time trying this place, they opened 6 months ago. All I can say is everything we ordered was  hella good! and the workers were really friendly and recommended popular items on the menu. 10/10 recommend to a friend.

Delicious spicy food and proper fried rice infused with wok hay. I would say the service is not bad and the lunch rush was towards the tail end when I arrived. The ambiance is more of a small hole in the wall restaurant kind of vibe. Last time I was here the spicy beef noodle soup and twice cooker pork is as on point as ever. If you are ever near the area the restaurant is worth a try.

Tasty Szechuan was a sorely needed authentic sichuan restaurant opening in the central Hayward area, and boy is it GOOD! It has probably become my favorite place for authentic sichuan food in the entire bay, and for good reason. The restaurant itself is unassuming, and there's parking in the back of the restaurant making entry easy.
It's clear this is a family restaurant with a lot of love taken to make it homely - the waiters speak good enough english but i would recommend if possible having someone knowing mandarin. Some of the menu items don't translate too well to English, but out of dishes, the cumin lamb and cilantro beef are must-haves. Chili oil fish filets, and the chili oil noodles are also staples, but what left the heaviest impact were the lamb dishes - so tender, sichuan peppercorns leaving a nice mala 麻辣 flavor, and cumin so apparent. Will definitely bring my immigrant parents here, because I know they'll be impressed!

Wow! I'm impressed with the food and service here. The place is small and I'm impressed with how the owners really made the most of the space with colorful  decorations and friendly vibe. The staff are all super friendly and personable.
The food was mostly great. I came in for a snack and only ordered their Chongqing chicken and their beef jerky. The flavor of the chicken was on point. Normally Szechuan places I've been to would have whole mala (numbing spice) peppercorn cloves, but here the mala was grounded in and evenly distributed everywhere, so it sort of envelops your mouth with this warm sensation with every bite. This absolutely makes it easier to enjoy. It felt like I was eating popcorn chicken.  However, I do prefer a thinner batter.
The beef jerky was alright! I'm not sure if I was a fan from the initial bite. Its different from other jerkies I've had as it's softer, and the flavor is quite unique. The spice builds with every bite and before I knew it, it was all gone. I guess that means I've enjoyed it.
Lastly, I'm not sure if it's a promo/grand opening/Covid reasoning(?) thing going on but we were able to take our mugs home, and also their ultra soft, reusable cloth napkins.
Overall, I would rate their food 4/5 and their service and everything else to be 5/5.

This was my second time at Tasty Szechuan, a Chinese restaurant located in Hayward. We ordered the dry hotpot, Chengdu cold noodles, eggplant with garlic sauce, and salt and pepper fish. We especially liked the dry hot pot, which was numbing, spicy, savory, not too salty, and also customizable with your choice of ingredients. The eggplant dish was also great (can be pretty variable at other Chinese restaurants), with good texture and seasoning of the eggplant. Overall, delicious food and generous portions which makes for a nice place to meet up between the East Bay and South Bay.

Absolutely adore this restaurant. The staffs were very friendly and welcoming.
This is our second time visit here within a week!
Food was delicious! They cooked with quality ingredients. The Xinjiang Chicken was delicious that satisfies my craving completely. Spicy dry beef is definitely recommended! You can always order to go with vacuumed package.
Definitely will come back soon!

Incredible!  This place is cozy and bright, with big tables and filled with diners ordering authentic Szechuan dishes.  It was hopping busy when I placed my takeout order, and everything was still ready quickly, steaming hot, and incredible.
This is the first place in California that reminds me of my college-town Szechuan place back home, and with some of the most authentic flavors that this Westerner had learned over the years.
I highly recommend the twice cooked pork, it's really done right here, but everything we ordered was good, and I'm sure this will become our go-to pickup spot on our way back from the City.
