MUST TRY!!!! - I know people usually rave about the food first, but I'm going to rave about this AMAZING chef If you notice him in other reviews, you'll see him smiling in every single picture he's in. The fun thing is... this persona is constant on and off camera! I saw him thanking every customer as they were leaving, and he would interact with them as much as he could with the work at hand. LOVE his enthusiasm in sharing AUTHENTIC Beijing cuisine and LOVE his humbleness in the way that he serves.
I guarantee you that this will become your new favorite go-to noodles restaurant (if you're not concerned about the price). We tried three dishes - Lanzhou Beef Noodle, Cold Noodles, Zhajiangmian - and everything tasted PHENOMENAL. The noodles are SO SPRINGY AND CHEWY and different from the packaged dried noodles that you can make at home. And different even from other noodle restaurants that probably pre make their noodles. It wasn't just the noodles itself. The meat and broth and vegetables in each dish in all just tasted light yet very flavorful.
I've also tried other Lanzhou noodle places like Highland Noodles in Frisco, and if you're wondering how it compares, I would tell you that it's different. The broth is simpler in a good way, but the one thing I know for sure they do better at is the meat. In portion and in taste.
Best Zhajiangmian I've ever had and especially delicious with thick noodles! And the cold noodle was surprisingly my favorite. It was a shock to me because I've never liked cold noodles before, but they were actually super refreshing and tasty. I'm so bad with describing taste, so you'll just have to trust me on this one.
3 dishes left one friend and I with some leftovers. Service is attentive and professional. I'll definitely be bringing my friends and family to see what they think as well.
Wow - the noodle dishes here are amazing and authentic. When you order a noodle dish the owner/chef makes your noodles from premade dough balls. It is sort of a show when he forms the noodles from the flatten dough that comes out of a pasta machine. He whips it beats it twists the dough with ease. Before you know it strands of pasta are formed. He quickly puts the noodles in a pot of water. Before you know it your dish shows up the way you asked. The noodles have a consistency that are fresh and firm. They tend to be long so I would ask for a knife to help cut them so it is easier to serve them up. We also got the green onion pancakes and the pepper shrimp. Both were excellent. The prices seem high, but for the quality of food and the freshness. Well worth in. The serving sizes are pretty large. And the noodle soup bowls are huge:
I've been to China many times and these noodle are better that the mainland.
Note: I think it is much better to eat in vs taking the food out. You will cheat yourself out of the just cooked freshness of the dishes. They'll still be excellent at home but for the best experience I'd eat there.
I took my dad here because he loves cold noodles and right now where it's 100 degrees every day I decided to take him here for an early birthday meal. I ordered the beef noodle soup and my boyfriend ordered the flat noodles with beef. Along with my dad's cold Sichuan noodles we also ordered twice cooked pork and dong po rou (pork belly).
The food took a minute to come out but it was well worth the wait. We saw the happy chef making noodles and smiling to everyone who looked his way and honestly he kinda makes the place special. I really hope they pay him well because he just seems so happy doing what he is doing. I feel like I've seen him at another restaurant he previously worked at and glad he came over. All of our noodles were awesome and had THE PERFECT chew. If you eat a lot of noodles you'll definitely notice a difference between hand-pull, fresh noodles compared to dried noodles reheated. Both great, but these were simply awesome. My broth was light but still very flavorful. I helped my boyfriend choose his dish because I know his taste buds and he was unsure at what to choose and he and I both really liked the flat noodles. They had a lot bolder/stronger taste compared to mine and was perfectly stir fried. Dad said his cold noodles were the best ones he's had in the last 30 years and I'll take his word for it. Not too salty or oily but had a little heat to it. The pork belly dish was also awesome but what really surprised me was the twice cooked pork dish. I always avoid this dish at a Chinese restaurant because it's usually either way overcooked or the restaurant was being cheap and just used American bacon which has a completely different taste. Their twice cooked pork dish here was really good. Like most of the other dishes, very simple, but packed full of flavor and slightly on the spicy side.
The restaurant itself looked kind of cheap and already run down for being a newer restaurant and our server, while very sweet and nice, was clumsy and kept forgetting things even though there was only one other table. With that said, I will definitely come back for the happy chef's noodle making skills.
The Chinese name of the restaurant, 面道, literally translates to "Noodle Road" or "Noodle Path." Each noodle dish is handpulled to order by the super friendly and entertaining gentleman behind the counter. He'll put on a show for you and let you record him! Bring some cash for the tip jar because he certainly deserves it. The noodle is THE best I've had since my childhood days in China: stretchy, smooth, and soaks up the flavors of the broth. The dumplings are also top notch: super thin skin and generous amount of fillings. Get them steamed instead of fried to fully appreciate the wraps.
The broth is a tad salty for my palate and the price is on the high side for a Chinese restaurant. But the noodle bowl portion size is HUGE and given the costs and labor involved, I will happily come back. Heck, I would even bring my hard-to-impress Chinese parents here. :)
Absolutely delicious food! The pan seared bao is perfectly seared. The soup dumplings and normal bao is delicious. The cold noodles have the best flavor and perfect for this summer heat. The portions are huge, so make sure to bring your appetite. The beef noodle soup has great flavor, the noodles are of course delicious, the beef melts in your mouth and once it gets colder it's the perfect dish. My daughter loves watching the noodle maker making the hand pulled noodles. She also enjoys all of the food. The noodle maker is so friendly too! The wait staff is also so nice and helpful (especially when you have a wiggly nine month old). The restaurant is super cute with all of the decorations. Chill and relaxing atmosphere.
My Chinese friend and I had lunch here today. I was here for the first time on recommendation. And I can point out the great atmosphere, great food, and friendly staff. I will come back here again and recommend it to my friends! Thank you for the best customer service!
Tried this for the first time recently and loved it!!
Great food! Very fresh and delicious!!
Had veggie fried rice and the chicken noodle dish!
The owner puts on a great show twisting and preparing the noodles.
Will return soon for another meal!!
I ordered Combo Fried Hand Pulled Noodle and Lurou Noddle. Both dishes are huge; it meant to serve more than 2 people. I never had handmade noddle before and it is so good. I loved the texture of the Lurou Noodle even though it was my first time trying it. However, both dishes are also slightly oily so I recommend a veggie dish to go along with it.
If you want some amazing noodles this is the place to come. My favorite is the combo hand pulled noodles. They have classic American dishes like orange chicken and beef broccoli, but the star of the show is definitely the noodles. Charlie puts on a show making your fresh hand pulled noodles right in front.
Oh gosh, where to start? This is a little hidden restaurant that I would have never discovered if it wasn't for Asian Grub DFDUB. If you never had hand pulled noodles, you're missing out. Hand pull noodles create a certain Al dente-ness to the noodle that manufactured noodles can't recreate.
My boyfriend and I went on a Sunday morning and there wasn't much of a wait. We ordered the soup dumpling, Ruroh noodle, and hand pulled fried noodle. The soup dumpling is the best in town and I can't even describe the absolute heaven that is the fried noodle. The fried noodle was not too salty, the onion was fresh and crunchy, and the noodles soaked up the sauce so well.
The chef who made the noodle was an absolute joy. He had so much fun making them and puts on a show. We will definitely be going back and try the other dishes .
Delicious
The dumplings were tender and dipping sauce was perfectly tangy
Hand pulled noodles are highly rated for a reason. We had the chicken and the veggie noodle - both very good
My personal favorite was the eggplant. Best I've had
Will be back
We just moved here a month ago and it has been on my list to visit this restaurant. Wow, it did not disappoint. We had a light dinner. Ordered the spicy beef soup, fried beef noodles and salt and pepper shrimp. The staff was friendly and we will definitely be back. For this complaining about the price, stick to Panda Express then! You get what you pay for. I did reheat some of the soup at home and it was not as good as eating it right after it was made.
