We have been wanting to try this place for a while. Place is nice and bright. Mike our server was great. He was very personable and interacted with us, which was great!
We told him that we did not want pork and made recommendations that aligned with our diet restrictions.
MUST try the pea pod stems. So delicious. Everything was fantastic. The egg tarts, yumm! Don't skip on those.
The dim sums were yummy as well. The Turnip Cake did have pork, and Mike indicated that there was little bits of it. However, we were curious about the dish so we tried it. And so glad we did. It was really good, and the pork was more of a note, unnoticeable.
Chicken wings were crunchy. Everything delicious and came out quick.
So glad there's a place closer to home for dimsum then having to go to Convoy.
Went on a Sunday afternoon and was seated within 10 mins. Ordered some items from the cart and a few from the menu. We accidentally ordered something wrong & the owner fixed it right away. He was really nice about that too, which I am grateful for. Everything was clean and nice! Excellent service and the food was bomb!
Ohhhh weee was excited to try one of the top rated dim sum places in San Diego! I was told this is the same owner that use to run Pearl in RB so I had to give it a try. We came here on a Sunday around 11am and to my surprise it was not too crowded like the other places in use to. We were greeted by a big dining hall and then when you enter the mail room, you see all the carts and waiters/waitresses running around. It almost felt like home! The food price was a bit more expensive then what I was use to the portions are a bit bigger! We got the staples, hairgow, shu mai, taro cake, chicken feet etc. it definitely satisfied my cravings. Will return with more friends!
I heard this restaurant was opened by the same owners of golden island in mira mesa. All the staff here are super friendly and most of them speak cantonese and Vietnamese. I ordered:
Beef rice rolls 8/10, taste better than golden island, the wrap is a little thick
Sticky rice in lotus 9/10 this item has minced pork, no egg yolk and no sausages (I like it) and had mushroom
Har gow 10/10 super bouncy shrimp, the wrap is a little thick
Bean curd roll in abalone sauce 10/10
I definitely HIGHLY RECOMMEND this dim sum
place. Someone who currently lives in the SGV, this place hits the spot. The food was fresh and amazing. If the carts that come around don't have an item you like, all you have to do is ask. Every server was so nice and accommodating.
Place is straight to the point restaurant. Definitely no nonsense and frills and it's okay because the food definitely is where the focus was.
My most favorite items were definitely the sweet dim sum. Everything was fresh out of the kitchen! It was so good that my family took an order of each to go! Definitely recommending and when we're in the SD area we will be coming back!
The food is good, but the service was great! Mike was so nice right from the beginning. We ordered ginger scallion lobster with noodles, shrimp har gow, shrimp Shu mai, salt and pepper chicken wings, egg drop soup, and egg tarts. Everything was delicious, but the ginger scallion lobster was the star of the show. Everyone stared as the beautiful steaming plate of succulent lobster and noodles made its way to our table. I could hear people from the other tables asking their servers about it. Mike was amazingly attentive and visited our table several times throughout our meal, making sure we had everything we needed. It was such a pleasure to be serviced by Mike and we look forward to visiting again.
Authentic Cantonese dim sum. They have the rolling Dim Sum carts where you can see what you would like to order. My go-to for Dim Sum in San Diego. Overall, the items we ordered were good.
This has become my family's go-to spot for dim sum. They have all of the dim sum dishes I've come to expect, brought out on carts, served hot and fresh. The size of each piece is quite large and reasonably priced, especially compared to other dim sum restaurants. The taste is great and I would definitely recommend.
We had been in the search for good dim sum and all the reviews seemed to say check out this neighborhood spot. I'm so glad we did. Came midweek to celebrate mom's birthday, party of 10 was super easy midweek. And while the food was good (I'll be thinking about that duck crispy skin and the whole fish for a few more days) the service was so on point, that my father in law will be raving about it for months.
All in all, we were well taken care of, well fed, and all curious about coming back soon. (We may have booked reservations for our next outing before we left)
If you love dim sum, do yourself a favor. I do love that you can get dim sum all day, they just don't do the carts after 2:30.
I remember this mall. Fresh out of college I worked at K-Mart which is now half Burlington Coat Factory and half Northgate Market. I ate here back when this restaurant was Lucky Star. Food was similar to Convoy St dim sum restaurants. Now the place is called Diamond Palace.
Har gow was hot and fresh off the rolling cart. Rice based wrapper was springy and had a mild flavor. Shrimp filling was fresh and full of shrimp flavor. Very good tasting dish.
Siu mei was hot and fresh off the rolling cart. Bursting with shrimp flavor this was my favorite dish.
Sticky rice had a mix of pork, shrimp and mushrooms. My mom made this dish with dehydrated shrimp and I'm not sure if I like it with fresh shrimp. Loved the mix of flavors from the pork, rice, and mushrooms.
Char siu bao was fluffy and the pastry part had a mild flavor with a hint of sweetness while the bbq pork filling had a delicious sweet glaze with tender pieces of bbq pork which were bursting with 5 star powder flavor. Best I've had in town.
Shredded pork lo mein featured fat lo mein noodles with big starchy flavor. My favorite parts of this dish was the crisp cabbage and the pork which had a delicious flavor. I enjoyed the sauce which tasted like a mix of soy sauce and oyster sauce. This would be a great dish if there was more pork and cabbage to balance out the noodles.
Fried chicken wings had a thin layer of batter which was crunchy and added a nice flavor. The texture was amazing. I liked the flavor of the juicy wings too.
Baked char siu bao has a sweet flavor from the honey glazed on top. Char siu filling was a mix of sweet and savory flavors. Very good ratio of meat to pastry. One of my favorite baked char sui boa in town.
Bbq pork pan fried noodles had tender bbq pork that was full of 5 spice powder based flavor. Egg noodles were crunchy and had a delicious mild flavor. Brown sauce tasted like it was soy sauce based and added a tasty salty flavor. Bok choy was fresh and crisp. Delicious dish.
Staff was nice and efficient. I recognized the manager who worked many years at Jasmine and we talked for a bit. Diamond Palace is a solid addition to the dim sum options in town.
the staff was so friendly. the carts came around fast. everything tasted so fresh and delicious. we got there 9:45 am on sunday but i can see more folks come in at 12 pm
Sometimes you gotta come to the hood for good food. Diamond Palace is in a slightly sketch area and they have white, metal bars around the place but it's worth venturing into the fortress for the eats.
The dining room is also a rentable event space, so it's basically a big, open room. It's clean, well-kept and spacious. Service is quick and friendly; they roll that cart right over as soon as you place your drink order.
What sets them apart from other dim sum joints are two things:
1. They actually have almost everything on the menu in the cart. Most places only have the greatest hits.
2. They don't skimp on the filling. The Pork Shu Mai and Shrimp and Chive Cakes had TONS of protein. Hit diggity dang.
I was also a big fan of the steam buns and ribs. All around good value; plates go for between $6 - $9. Would def go back.
Not our first time. Dim sum is good! Came again during Chinese New Year. Good is excellent as always but we were treated to the lion dance and blessing of the restaurant. I missed the sound and smells of CNY even without the firecrackers it was a blast from my childhood when I lived in San Francisco.
DIM SUM ALL DAY! wait, really, is that right? Yes Dim sum all day! So this place just opened up a year ago and we have driven past it multiple times but we finally made it in . Beautiful large space perfect for large parties! The waiter was fabulous yes I'm talking about you Mike! But seriously every one was great, the owner even checked on us multiple times . The food was delicious. Our party was 9 people, and We tried multiple Dim sum items, as well as the Peking duck and the whole flounder. The pricing was very reasonable, and We already made reservations for our next visit. I highly recommend stopping by , I mean come on DIM SUM all day!!
Absolutely incredible authentic Dim Sum. Portions are big, ingredients are fresh and good service. Keep in mind we came during non-busy day/hour. I hear during weekends and busy times, wait can be as long as two hours. My Top 3 of Dim Sum restaurants in Southern California. Owner greeted us and chatted about how their Dim Sum were prepared. Fascinating.

I was looking for Dim Sum to do brunch. Most options were in Kearny Mesa, but I found this one.
The place is a banquet hall, and they have steam trays which wheel out the Dim Sum. The restaurant serves Dim Sum all day.
The staff spoke Cantonese and were very friendly and helpful. I ordered while looking over what items were in the steam trays.
Food was great, but the prices were higher than usual. Despite that, it was well it. Definitely worth trying.
I love dim sum and with a limited amount of options here in SD I had to try this place out when I heard it was new!
I've been here 2-3 times and the service is always great. I love the chili sauce they have (it's so fragrant and yummy) and I ask for it every time. The dim sum is also pretty good, however the price is a bit high. I don't go too often but it's a good dim sum place to go to when I crave it!
There are few quality dim sum places on Convoy Street, in Mira Mesa area etc. However, in my opinion, Diamond Palace is the best.
Off the regular "Asian restaurants" beaten path, I only found out about this place through Yelp when I was in the area. This is my 2nd time and it did t disappoint.
The quality of dumplings is simply amazing, their size big enough to fill you with just 2-3 orders.
I have even tried their sweet n sour pork which was heavenly.
To match their high quality food, there was Mike, our server. This guy is a true foodie, he doesn't just bring you (for example) chili sauce but he explains its homemade, how many ingredients they used to make it, how to tilt the sauce plate to mix it with the right amount of soy sauce etc.
He care about his customers, he takes pride in how he does his job providing (combined with the great food) a very pleasant culinary experience.
Totally recommend going out of your way to try this fabulous dim sum restaurant, if you are in the San Diego area...worth every penny!
I've been here a few times, and haven't had any issues so far. Mike and Washington are a pleasure to talk to. I appreciate the suggestions and prompt service from these two. I usually get my table right away. I didn't have to wait long to get dim sum. The staffs are usually pretty accommodating when we ask for a specific dish that's not in their cart. They got the typical selections of dim sum. They have other selections as well such as noodle and various Chinese dishes, but I only come for the dim sum. Parking is ample. I'm just glad they finally open one of these restaurants near my house.
Place is legit. Can't believe I was just introduced. Great alternative to the dim sum places on convoy or Manila Mesa! And as others have mentioned the portions are larger than other places. If you want the steam carts they go around until 3pm. We just missed them but were able to order all the dim sum favorites off the menu. Was told weekend that the weight can be a while.
I'm a student and wanted to get some takeout before I started school. I went to the restaurant first thing in the morning and was greeted by Michael (the manager). Michael was so kind and provided me complementary tea and Siu Mai. The takeout order took less than 15 minutes to prepare and everything was soo delicious! 10/10 will come again.
We ordered this place for delivery as friends and I wanted Chinese food. Saw that I was dim sum style and decided to give it a try. Everything comes in its own pack. The food tasted good and all the portions were good sized. Only ask would be that the plates came with rice as we had to order a side. Overall great considering the delivery.
