My husband and I walked into 2AM Izakaya around 7pm on a Friday. There was no one else in the restaurant so we were seated right away. Our server listed the specials for the evening and pointed to a small TV screen that listed the specials as well. It was nice to have the screen since there were quite a few specials to remember.
My husband and I decided to order a bunch of dishes to share. We tried the Tonkatsu, rainbow roll, spicy salmon roll, tuna roll, sweet shrimp nigiri, squid nigiri, fatty salmon nigiri (special), and uni (special). The Tonkatsu was freshly fried and super crispy! The curry was so full of flavor and the perfect consistency. As for the sushi, this was some of the freshest fish I've had in Chicago! Each bite melted in my mouth and did not taste fishy at all! I highly recommend the uni.
I can't wait to return to try more of their dishes!
Wow these are the kind of places I love in Chicago! We don't normally go up to this area but so glad we checked it out. It's actually on the less busy side of the street so there is some free street parking across the intersection.
It's byob!! Grab a drink before you get there but if not there's a liquor store nearby. The food is great and unique! We tried a lot of things. The fried rice and rangoons were really good. The only thing that was just OK was the sushi but it may have been the rolls we got.
Fun atmosphere and friendly service and it wasn't too busy on a Friday night (yet)! We'd come back with friends!
The food was excellent!!! I love how late the restaurant is open and the quality is still spectacular despite how late at night it may be. I loved the restaurants decor and ambiance as well.
My friend and I ordered the edamame, Godzilla, Rainbow, Spicy salmon, Dragon, and Spider roll. The edamame quickly came out hot with salt on it (just how It should be) and that was fun to munch on while the sushi was being made. I definitely recommend the dragon and godzilla roll which I was able to take a picture of. Those were sooo yummy. The service was really quick and friendly as well. The prices are pretty reasonable considering how good it was and the quality. Our Bill came out to around $70, but splitting it amongst 2 people is very worth it.
The food looked amazing and it was amazing 10/10 would come again. The staff was diligent and consistent. They were very welcoming and super kind. The food and service was amazing!!!
Came here on impulse. It was so good! Gume was such a good server loved the spicy tuna roll
Such a great addition to Lincoln park. Super authentic Japanese food with really great flavors. We ordered a little of everything and by far our favorite was the grilled pork belly. Highly recommend everything from the grill section. The tonkatsu was also so fresh and they even made me a sushi roll that wasn't on the menu. Service was 10/10. Our waiter was so kind and attentive. There are only a few tables inside so it's an intimate cozy vibe. A must try!!
I've been once before and this place is awesome! The fish is always fresh and the grilled items that I tried were cooked exceptionally well. Will be coming back in the very near future. The service is good as well so no complaints there. And it's the perfect setting for a late night date or after drinks spot with friends. 10/10!
Ordered 3 diff type of sushi it was great Shrimp Tempura- (1 of my favz) -was literally like a burst of flavor so good.
I ordered like 30 min before closing n took 10 min to b ready. they were NOT the pushy/annoying "nice" just understanding cool nice. :) they made an exception to make me a roll with cucumber and avocado :3 and i was Happy yayy. smelled nice and lights were cool. Will come again :)

We tried different kind sushi and couple from grill menu. They are fresh and delicious. My wife and I have a great time here to celebrate Valentines's Day.

This is my first visit. The taste is very good. The sanitation and environment are also very good. The service attitude is very friendly
So excited to finally have a restaurant that will stay open until 2 a.m.! The restaurant was inviting and the owners and staff very welcoming. I ordered the udon noodles with chicken and it was delicious! It came with chunks of chicken and crunchy stir-fry veggies. I also ordered the grill octopus with ponzu sauce. The octopus tasted fresh and was lightly grilled. As a new customer, I was given 10% and a free miso soup! I definitely will be a repeat customer and look forward to checking out the rest of the menu. Welcome to Lincoln Park, 2AM Izakaya!
